Working with a Fortune 500 Healthcare client to build end-to-end design of Symphio, a document orchestration and CM platform.
Overview
At ViaTech, I led UX and product design for Symphio, an enterprise-level document orchestration and customer communications management (CCM) platform. Built for a Fortune 500 healthcare client, Symphio enables the creation, review, and distribution of complex documents—without relying on templates—across internal teams and external partners.
The Challenge
Enterprise organizations often struggle with fragmented systems, rigid templates, and siloed review workflows when managing high-stakes documents (e.g., policy disclosures, legal communications). Our goal was to build a flexible, scalable platform that supports seamless collaboration, governance, and speed without overwhelming users.
My Role
- Led end-to-end design of the Arranger and Collaborate modules, supporting document creation, configuration, and review workflows.
- Mapped user personas and journeys for key roles including compliance officers, reviewers, and operations leads
- Conducted stakeholder interviews and contextual inquiries to align platform capabilities with enterprise processes
- Built interactive wireframes and prototypes reflecting Symphio’s intuitive, template-free model
- Developed and maintained cross-module component libraries, UI guidelines, and styling systems to ensure design consistency
- Collaborated cross-functionally to deliver designs that reduce onboarding time, cognitive load, and workflow complexity.
Outcomes
The Symphio team enhanced user experience and operational efficiency by streamlining workflows, reducing cognitive friction, and accelerating approval of high-stakes documents.
I introduced a unified design system that boosted consistency, sped development, and improved cross-team collaboration, while optimized onboarding and role-based interactions drove rapid adoption, higher engagement, and fewer support requests—all while meeting enterprise compliance and governance standards.
Reflection
Symphio presented the rare opportunity to design a platform within a complex, regulated environment. By grounding the design process in real enterprise workflows and cross-functional alignment, we were able to deliver a product that feels simple
—even when the work isn’t.
